5. Time Tracking
One of the main features of Costlocker is tracking worked hours. The recorded time automatically distributes salary costs across all the projects workers spent time on.
Two Options for Adding Time
- Time Tracking: Primarily used for logging your own time, either using the Start/Stop mode or by directly entering the time without using a stopwatch. You can track time in the browser or via the desktop app for Mac and Windows.
- Timesheet: Ideal for managers and administrators to log time in bulk, including time for other employees.
Here, we'll show the simpler method of time tracking. Information about bulk time logging can be found in the article Timesheet.
Time Tracking using Start/Stop
- Go to Time Tracking in the main menu.

- Select the task assigned to you in the project budget, e.g., Milk Bar Stodolní - Website Update - Design.
Project selection
In the table, you will see the client name, project, and activity on the left, and on the right, the tracked time and the total estimated time for the task. You can mark the task as a favorite by clicking the star, so it always appears at the top of the list.
- Optionally, fill in a description, e.g., Design system preparation, and start the stopwatch by clicking Start.
Start project tracking
The stopwatch tracks the current activity you're working on. If you need to change the start time, click the time field and adjust the start time.
Once you're done with the task, simply click Stop, and the tracked time will be moved down into the records.
Adding Time Without Using the Stopwatch
- Select the project, e.g., Account Management in the same project.
Adding time manually
- Optionally, write something like Meeting with a client in the description.
- Click on the time entry line (to the left of Start), type in 2h, and click the Save button.

Just like we logged 2 hours with "2h", you can use other time formats where "h" and "hod" represent hours, "m" and "min" for minutes, and "s"/"sec" for seconds. You can also separate hours and minutes with a colon. Some examples:
- 15m - 15 minutes
- 1h15m - 1 hour, 15 minutes
- 2:30 - 2 hours, 30 minutes.
