Locking a Project

Once you lock project items, those items are automatically:

  • Removed from users' selection in Time Tracking

  • Existing entries in the Timesheet are marked as locked and cannot be edited

Manually locking project items works similarly to finishing a project.

How to Lock Items in a Project

Open any ongoing project and navigate to the budget editing section.

Here, you'll see padlock icons on the right side of each budget item.

You can click the padlock on any item to lock it:

Another option is one of the Advanced Functions — the Lock All Activities option:

Saving afterward will lock all items where the padlock is closed.

When Is It Appropriate to Lock Items in Projects?

There are many reasons; the two most common are:

  1. The task item is already completed, and you don't want team members to see or edit it further in the project.

  2. The task item will be worked on in the future, so you don't want users to start working on it yet.

When Does Automatic Item Locking Occur?

When creating a Recurring Project, you have the option to set what happens after the project's period ends. If you choose to Lock it, all items of the project will be locked at the end of the period.
