How tagging works

Tags are words or phrases assigned to the project. They are used to create custom project labels.

What tagging is for

Tagging projects is critical for using reports. All Costlocker reports feature filters you can use to filter out projects based on tags.

Examples

Wondering how much you paid for lost tenders? Go to finished projects and select the “lost pitch” tag.

Want to know how much you gave away on client discounts? Go to finished projects and select the “discount” tag.

Want to make sure that your billing for the following month won’t include a project that has a cost estimate, but shouldn’t be invoiced (such as a tender cost estimate)? Go to billing outlook and select the “billable” tag.

Bulk tag editing

All tags can be created, edited or deleted conveniently in a single place. Click your name in the top right corner and select the Settings option.

Then select the Tag Management tab, where you’ll find a list of all your tags. You’ll even see how much these tags are being used (Frequency).

Please note:

  • changing a tag name will automatically update it in all projects
  • deleting a tag cannot be undone
  • the number to the right represents the number of projects using that tag
  • use the Add Tag button to add new tags
  • click the number to the right to see a list of projects tagged with that tag

Advanced tag filtering (include / exclude)

If you leave both options unchecked and select the BILLABLE and WEB tags, only the projects tagged with at least one of the tags will be displayed.

If you check the Results must contain all these tags option, only the projects tagged with both of these tags will be displayed.

If you check the Exclude results containing the following tags option, the projects containing the entered tags will be excluded from the results.
